Hi Mitch,
I am not using any flocking. I paint my gaming boards with a special
sand paint. I use the same paint for basing. Also the hills to put on
the boards and gullys ar painted that way. so is the bank of
commercially made streams. I am playing DBM , mostly biblical armies,
and painting Desert WW2 and Colonials. so all this fits quite well
with that paint. So you better don't give too much for my advice.
What I cannot see in the pictures too clearly is the three dimensional
structure, which I could see on the unflocked picture, so the two colour
piece looks to me nicer, assuming that there is more depth in the real
thing than in the photo. While the third colour may emphasise the
third dimension, for me it looks a bit unreal. Maybe just darken the
edge slightly is another option. But I think that's hard to judge before
trying.
