This is an update about the Curly that was rescued from Slaughter last Friday. I want to thank all of you that contributed to his rescue. He is safe and sound now and on a new journey to a wonderful new life.
This is a link to his photobucket slideshow
and a short trotting video
I hope it works...
Chevy is a very cute boy. When he is trotting and cantering he seems to float. His back barely moves. He is young (about 5) and seems to have a very immature mind. He did not like be alone for quarantine so we put our mini mare Fiona in the pasture with him to be his buddy. Chevy is showing no signs of sickness. No runny nose or cough. I have to say we have never gotten an auction/broker horse that didnt have a snotty nose and cough so his immune system must be working overtime. He follows Fiona around like she is his mother. He follows her and stops about 4 feet away and just stands next to her. She walks away and he follows her and she stops and he stops and just stands there next to her. She finds him a bit annoying but not a threat at all.
He stands ok for grooming but has to have his eye on Fiona at all times. He obviously is insecure. He needs to bond with one person so they can be his leader and confidant.
We will have him evaluated by our Natural Horsemanship Trainer within 30 days.
