The MAC and PC OS's are a big stopper. Two entirely different formats. So you'd have to start from scratch. Why does he want to trade? What does he know that he's not telling you? Is this perm? or temp?

Subject: [Apple iPod] iTouch test drive
A friend has an iTouch and I have an iClassic and I'm thinking of
switching from my Palm Treo/iClassic to the iPhone. To that end, the
friend, who has been pushing me in this direction for awhile, is wanting
to swap with me, his Touch for my Classic.
The problem arises in that I'm happy with the Classic as a player. I'm
most interested in how it handles contacts and calendar, and would want
to load the Touch with my info for the test drive -- but I don't want to
destroy his data.
I think I know what happens is the iPhone/Touch/
library, and if the machine to which it's attach isn't the library
source, it wants to reformat and reload the p/t/p. In that case, his
library would be completely overwritten with my desktop's information.
That's cool, because to get both devices back to their original
configurations, all that should be necessary is to re-sync them on their
original desktops.
What I don't know is how the Outlook data will sync. Will it also
overwrite my desktop onto his Touch, and then overwrite his desktop onto
his Touch when we swap back.
And just to throw some stuff in the game, I use a PC and he uses a Mac.
He is afraid if his Mac-sync'd Touch reformats on my PC, it won't be
useable on his Mac anymore.
I hope that's clear. Anybody got some thoughts?
